We have just returned from a nice holiday in Perth (WA) which was timed to coincide with the Agility Nationals. This was held over four days and it was great to see so many dogs and handlers from all over Australia there.
On the last day the FINALS were held and I came away very proud as one of "Rhonabwy Gotta Love Him" Jackson's daughters "Borderailean Gotta LuvHer" Taz came away with the Excellent Jumping title with a cracking round. Showing me that the genes have certainly been passed down.
THIS SITE WILL BE UPDATED WITH LOTS OF PHOTOS AND NEWS VERY SHORTLY.
AGILITY is a sport that the BORDER COLLIE seems to excel at, it keeps them well
and truly exercised both mind and body. When you watch them move around a
course, you see they still move with that minimum lift of feet and jump with
minimum clearance (saving seconds on a course). All this shows that they
can more often than not keep going after many other dogs have exhausted
themselves.
With OBEDIENCE they show the intelligence that is associated with this fantastic
breed and also their willingness to please their owner.
HERDING of
course shows them truly coming into their own, whether it is as a yard dog, paddock dog or even simply enjoying this sport with their owner.
Then there is
TRACKING and it appears that this is yet another sport where they show their
versatility.
So what we see is the most all-round breed of dog.
The following are just
a few pictures of them enjoying their sport.
